Who are FoMSF?

You must have heard of MSF - Médecins Sans Frontières a.k.a. Doctors Without Borders a.k.a Truly Amazing People… so who are FRIENDS of MSF, a.k.a. FoMSF?

Well, in brief, and as summarised VERY nicely for me by the FoMSF website: “there are over 30 Friends of MSF (FoMSF) groups in universities around the UK. Each is made up of student supporters, who campaign, fundraise and raise awareness about our work and global health issues.” FULL CREDIT: FoMSF because I was too lazy could not have summed it up better. (Anything underlined indicates a hyperlink, so click it!)

At UoN, WE are 1 of those 30 groups in the UK, and we strive to further the education provided to not just our members, medical students but anyone with a passion for action! This means having guest speakers straight from MSF, organising fundraising events ranging from bake sales to charity matches and some more casual events (like Chai and Board Games last year!). And keep an eye out for a major conference event coming soon 👀.

So, what’s so special about this newsletter?

Wouldn’t you want everything in one place? Introducing… OUR NEWSLETTER! That’s it. Go read it. We have BIG plans this year. We’ll post once in a while monthly (or fortnightly) about upcoming events at UoN, what you can do to help fundraise and insightful stories to spark those engaging and intelligent discussions or to maybe even inspire you to join MSF one day!

Our goal is primarily to help you quickly catch up on recent and relevant humanitarian or MSF current affairs while shedding light on under-represented issues, crises, nations and people. We do the research, you do the eating.
